Upperward Mountaineering Club Constitution.

In general the club is run in a fairly relaxed way, however if a dispute arises then we have the constitution as below, it is also necessary to have a reasonable structure to the club and again this is set out in the constitution as below.

1. The Name

The Name of the Club shall be.

“The Upperward Mountaineering Club”

  2. The Aims

  The aims of the club shall be.

A. To foster the love of hills and mountains.
B. To afford to its members the opportunities of acquiring knowledge of all aspects of mountaineering techniques.

3. The Membership

A.The membership is open to all suitable Men and Women over the age of eighteen.
B. All members will at all times uphold the good name of the club.
C. The membership is restricted to fifty.
D. New members will be admitted to the club by means of scrutiny by the committee after attending three meets
E.  All members joining the dub shall be deemed to accept the terms and any bye laws from time to time adopted by the club.

  4. Club Officers

The Officers of the club will be.

The Honorary President
The President
The Vice-President
The Honorary Secretary
The Honorary Treasurer
Four Committee Members

The period of office will be for one year except in the case of the secretary which will be for two years.
The committee will have the right to carry out routine business without recourse to the members.

  5. Election of Officers

A. Nomination may be made for the election of officers by the executive committee and circulated to the committee with the notice calling the AGM.
B. Members may make nominations for election to all, and any of these posts. The nominations must be in the hands of the secretary not less than fourteen days before the AGM.
C. In the event of there being more than one nomination, election shall be by voting by current members entitled to vote at the AG M.
D. Those entitled to vote are fully paid up members.
E. The committee reserve the right to co opt additional committee members where necessary

  6. The Date of The AGM

  The annual general meeting shall be held. A day, which will be notified in February.

7. Special General Meetings

A.The executive shall have the right to call a special general meeting.
B. The members shall have the right to call a special general meeting having circulated the entire membership and having acceptance of not less than one third of the membership.

  8. Notice of Meetings

  Notice of meetings shall be not less than fourteen days.

  9. Annual Subscriptions and Accounts

  The financial record year runs from 1st January till 31st December each year.

A. The Treasurer shall be responsible for the preparation of the annual accounts of the club.
B. The accounts shall be audited by an independent person (not a member of the committee).
C. The annual subscription shall be agreed at the AGM and should be paid by the pre-meet of the May walk.

  10. Meets.

  The meets will be arranged by the executive.

  11.Guests.

A.Guests over the age of eighteen wilt be welcomed when accompanied by a full member, who will be responsible for that guest.
B. Junior guests will be welcomed to appropriate meets when accompanied by a full member who, is responsible for that junior guests safety.

  12.Bye Laws

A. For reasons of safety members are obliged to carry appropriate equipment for the respective season.
B. It is incumbent upon all members to support and attend meets suitably dressed and equipped.
C. The club accepts no responsibility for members traveling to and from meets.
